Beth met Nicole while serving in Peace Corps in Africa and they fell in love. So when a huge storm blew through Virginia, knocking out power to the majority of the area the night before their wedding day, the pair had the experiences of Peace Corps to fall back on. What's 100+ degree weather, no power and no water to a pair that spent years in the African nation of Mali? "Liberating," Beth said. For a couple of gals that worked and saved and planned on having the perfect wedding day, the inconvenience was just that. It opened up the opportunity to let the stress of the day go and just roll with the circumstances. With no power or running water at the reception site, Nicole and Beth's team of family and friends jumped to action, moved the ceremony outside, ran to any local shop to purchase gallons of water for the restrooms, bags and bags of ice and even a battery operated iPod boom box for the DJ, and the day was perfect!
Here Nicole and Beth dance surrounded by fallen leaves and branches from an overnight storm.
There was so much father-daughter love at this wedding! It was clear that both of these dads were proud papas!
A sweet moment during the ceremony when Beth got a little emotional.
Yeah, these Peace Corps kids know how to party!
Congratulations, Beth and Nicole! I wish you a lifetime of liberation and happiness! ;)
